Mission

We seek to be a bold and transforming community of faith. We are united in the worship of God known in Jesus, the Christ, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

We believe the Way of Christ is the way of truth. However, as human beings, our grasp on truth will always be partial and provisional, subject to change and revision. We seek, therefore, to be open to the new thing God is doing within us and around us.

We believe the Word of God is contained in the Bible, and we seek to understand it in the light of human knowledge and new insights which the Biblical writers, the Church Fathers and 16 th Century Reformers did not and could not be expected to know.

We believe that the mission of the Church is to love and serve God through word and witness; to treat all human beings as sisters and brothers; and to foster responsible stewardship of all God’s creation.

We therefore declare ourselves to be an "open and affirming" congregation made up of and welcoming all people into full participation in the life of the church, regardless of race, colour, gender, age, nationality, economic circumstance, marital status, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability or emotional condition.

With open hearts and open minds, we aim to:

• build up our faith and commitment
• encourage others on their own spiritual journey
• exercise a ministry of welcome, hospitality and presence
• strengthen the ecumenical community in the city centre
• engage and be engaged by the life of Edinburgh, the Festival city
• act locally and think globally
