Volunteer Positions in the Olive Tree Café
The following positions within the Olive Tree Café are currently open to volunteers.
If you are interested in applying for one of these positions simply download and fill in an application form and return it to the church office.
Purpose:
To assist in the clearance of foodstuffs and dishes maintaining a high standard of service and hygiene. To clear and clean tables and working areas, including equipment and utensils.
Dimensions:
The jobholder reports to the Cook and the Volunteer Co-ordinator.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist at service time by serving customers as directed to agreed standards and promote a friendly atmosphere.
- Ensure tables are left clean and free from dishes.
- Assist in putting dishes through the dish washer.
- Assist in stocking service counters as and when directed to ensure sufficient supplies through the service period.
- Attend to any other appropriate duties or reasonable requests made by management.
- Report immediately any incidents of accident, fire, theft, loss, damage, unfit food, or other irregularities and take such action as may be appropriate.
- Comply with all the legal and hygiene requirements in the café. (please see separate detailed sheet)
- Receive any training as is necessary to maintain the standards in the Café.
- Report any customer complaints or compliments to the cook or Volunteer Co-ordinator or in their absence the Centre Manager.

Dishwasher / Kitchen Assistant
Purpose:
To assist in the clearance of foodstuffs and dishes maintaining a high standard of service and hygiene. To clear and clean tables and working areas, including equipment and utensils. To assist the chef with the preparation of food stuffs in time for service.
Dimensions:
The jobholder reports to the Cook and the Volunteer Co-ordinator.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the chef in the preparation of food stuffs such as salad, soup and Paninis and with serving at service time.
- Ensure tables are left clean and free from dishes.
- Assist in putting dishes through the dish washer.
- Assist in stocking service counters as and when directed to ensure sufficient supplies through the service period and in getting stock from the storage cupboards.
- Comply with all the legal and hygiene requirements in the café. (please see separate detailed sheet)
- Take cooked meals to customers at tables if required.
- Report immediately any incidents of accident, fire, theft, loss, damage, unfit food, or other irregularities and take such action as may be appropriate.
- Assist the Kitchen Assistant with clearing up the café at the end of the shift, also putting chairs on tables.
- Receive any training as is necessary to maintain the standards in the Café.
- Report any customer complaints or compliments to the cook or Volunteer Co-ordinator or in their absence the Centre Manager.
