Volunteer Positions in Caretaking

The following positions within the caretaking team are currently open to volunteers.

If you are interested in applying for one of these positions simply download and fill in an application form and return it to the church office.

Assistant Caretaker

Purpose:

To assist with the operation of all services provided by the Church, ensuring healthy and safe environment.

Dimensions:

The volunteer reports to the Senior Caretaker and Volunteer Co-ordinator. The volunteer would be required for between 2 and 6 hours per week, hours of day can be discussed to suit individuals and Church needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with cleaning of café, centre, church and meeting rooms to appropriate levels of hygiene in line with health and safety requirements, cleaning tasks will include emptying bins, mopping and hoovering.
  • Keep external surrounding of building clean and tidy to safeguard safety of staff, user groups, visitors and the general public.
  • Set up meeting rooms, arranging tables and chairs and assisting with any catering requirements such as tea, coffee and sandwiches.
  • Attend any meetings and courses as may be necessary for the post, as well as for personal development, for example Moving and Handling, First Aid and Health and Hygiene.
  • Assist with the regular maintenance of the fabric of the building as directed by the Senior Caretaker.
  • Assist with any additional special events that may be on such as Ceildhs, Conferences and Weddings, assisting with general requirements, catering and clearing up.
  • Take instructions from the Senior Caretaker, or other paid caretaker as identified on site as to the buildings requirements.

Assistant Caretaker (Tuesdays)

Purpose:

To assist with the operation of all services provided by the Church, ensuring healthy and safe environment.

Dimensions:

The volunteer reports to the Senior Caretaker and Volunteer Co-ordinator. The volunteer would be required on Tuesdays from 3 pm - 6 pm/7 pm. Also there may be the possibility of doing extra hours which can be discussed to suit individuals and Church needs.

Key Responsibilities:

We require an individual who has caretaking experience with little supervision.

  • Assist with cleaning of centre and meeting rooms to appropriate levels of hygiene in line with health and safety requirements, cleaning tasks will include emptying bins, mopping and hoovering.
  • Keep external surrounding of building clean and tidy to safeguard safety of staff, user groups, visitors and the general public.
  • Attend any meetings and courses as may be necessary for the post, as well as for personal development, for example Moving and Handling, First Aid and Health and Hygiene.
