Volunteering at St George's West Church
Our volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds, some from the Church congregation, some who are looking to get back into work, some from agencies such as Social Work or from the Voluntary Sector and some just have spare time to give.
There are several different areas within St George's West Church and Centre where people can volunteer:
The Olive Tree Café: The volunteering opportunities within the café are dishwashing, helping to prepare sandwiches, working behind the counter, serving customers, operating a cash register and cleaning. More...
Caretaking: We are a busy building with many tenants, room hires and one off events. We offer volunteering alongside our caretaking team. The role would involve assisting with the setting up of rooms, organising the recycling, helping with cleaning and other general maintenance. More...
The Awareness Garden: This is small area of planters to the side of the church. There are seasonal volunteering opportunities in the garden area, looking after the plants, herbs and compost bin. More...
Creative Space: Creative Space @ St George's West Edinburgh offers courses and events for people of all spiritual traditions and none to explore creativity, spirituality and justice and promote the wellbeing of people and the planet. We are looking for committed volunteers to help with administration, marketing and publicity.
Office: There are opportunities within the church office to be involved in assisting with administration, room bookings, mail outs and telephone enquiries. More...
One Off Group Volunteer Opportunities: From time to time there are one off opportunities for groups of volunteers to do something in the centre - this may be painting, gardening, being involved in large mailings or maintenance projects. More...
